During the summer of 2024, my uncle had a pile of logs on the beach in Wild Cove waiting to be built into a new crib for his fish stage. Before anything could be done with the logs, they needed to be removed of their bark. This work was undertaken by the women. Don’t ask me why. They seemingly wanted to sit on these logs in the sun and scrape them clean and they were never without an audience of their husbands watching them work while drinking beer.
